Aspire E1-531 very sluggish when streaming videos
Tidied the computer up and all seems Ok , running windows 8.1 8 G RAM 64 BIT loads of desk space , all updates in place
any suggestions .. when I stream the video will stop and buffer all the time . I have 30 mb broadband

Well, the problem could be website related. Are you streaming the videos in HD, have you tried reducing the quality to 720p, 420p?

It seems like a memory related issue some how .... I do have a few icons and files on the desktop ...could this be the issue ... with the obvious answer to move the files ... how could I increase memory ( virtual?) to overcome this ??

According to the documentation you have the maximum amount of RAM installed the system can handle. Is your C: partition getting full, by chance? If so, do you have a
partition that isn't being used? If you have a partition I would suggest putting your music, pictures, vidoes, and documents there to free up space.0 -
This sounds a good idea , and probably the cause .... an you guide me through this process at all . I am not fully conersent with 8.1. to do this

Did the problem occur before you tidied up the computer or did it come after?
What did you do to tidy up the computer?
Have you tried with a wired ethernet connection to your modem/router.
Can you open a command prompt and ping www.google.com -t
to see if you are getting packet loss?
And you can check if there is packet loss between the computer and router.
Try to only have one browser window open.
