Is there a way to set this up to "Dual Boot" Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 ?

I've never attempted it.  The link below discusses win8 pro to win7 pro.  I assume it would apply to you, but don't know if any of the link is accurate since I've never actually tried it. One of the options he links to discusses dual booting.

The machine was shipped with the "downgrade" already performed. So it's running Windows 7 Pro which is likely what I'll use 90% of the time (and one of the reasons I bought this particular machine). I'd just like to have the dual boot option so that I can spend a little time with the 8.1 interface so that when Windows 10 becomes the standard it won't be such a steep learning curve.

From what I've been able to gather, the only way to do this is to get an .iso bootable image with the Windows 7 installer on it. Then use the system recovery options on the Acer to reinstall Windows 8.1. Then create a new partitioin and install Windows 7 on it. I'm not sure that's worth the effort or risk (don't want to be stuck with only Windows 8.1). I guess what I'm asking is, is there a way (request 8.1 media from Acer perhaps) to create a new partition under Windows 7 and install Windows 8.1 on it so that it will offer the option to dual boot?

Maybe I should just wait for Windows 10 which I will have a free upgrade option to and see if that offers the option to install and keep Windows 7. Probably not as "upgrades" generally will only replace the existing OS.

yeah, I've never had a downgraded PC, but here is what I would do.  I would search google and this forum and youtube.....Acer America youtube channel to learn about all the ways to backup each Operating System and your files (and your recovery partition). I'll give you a few links.  But you'll probably have to do some research to figure it all out, because Windows 7 and Windows 8 are different in how you go about doing backups of the OS and files.  It can be a little confusing, but you're smart to be looking in to it now, instead of after the fact (which is what most people do).  Maybe someone else that is more knowledgeable can help.  Because, I don't completely understand if you have two license keys or not.  I guess if you have two license keys it would be important to have them written down somewhere in case of catastrophe.

If you ever need to install just a clean copy of Windows 8.1 (without all of the Acer software) use the link below:

But just remember, if you accidentally delete your recovery partition, it won't be coming back unless you have a USB factory default backup or buy the recovery software from Acer.  And there's the tricky part.  I think you need to install Windows 8.1 without accidentally deleting your recovery partition, so you can make a windows 8.1 recovery drive of your recovery partition. But I could be wrong.

Edit:  And of course you could always call Acer or do the Acer chat support.
