Aspire V5-552p-X440 LCD display black, blank, not working

I have an Aspire V5-552p-X440 touchscreen laptop. The external HDMI display works fine. The touch works fine. The screen is always black, even during POST. Windows 8, does not detect the LCD display, thus trying to cycle or set the displays to duplicate does not do anything.

1. Am I correct in thinking that I need a new LCD screen?

2. How do you seperate the LCD screen from the digitizer?

Thanks.

It does sound like the LCD would need to be replaced in the system. Unfortunately, I can't provide instructions for replacing the LCD. From my understanding the digitizer is built into the LCD module.

Have you tried contacting Acer technical support? Acer's repair depot in the US can repair the system for $259 USD, and warranty the repair work that we do for 90 days.

Just plugged in a brand new screen. The problem still exists. Any ideas?

It could be the mainboard or GPU. Really, it is hard to say without testing the system at our repair depot.

    Interesting development:

So, I pulled off the connector from the motherboard, and removed the cable from the laptop. I then reconnected the cable on both ends, to the old LCD screen and the motherboard. I held down the stupid button located next to the center screw so the laptop would power on, pushed to power button and weirdly enough, the screen worked. I rerouted the cable, where it belongs, put it all back together and it still works. Weird... but I'm okay with it for now.
