Acer V3 111p-p16l Maximum memory speed

Owns a V3 111p-p16l , with 4 gb ram and wants to upgrade to 8gb

Sorry for being pedantic but Crucial Mem tool recommends up to 1866 Mhz

crucial scan result

However according to Intel the n3530 CPU supports max 1600Mhz :

intel cpu spec

I know the extra speed will make negligible difference , however would prefer if it ran at this speed . Current speed is 1600 Mhz ( 800 Dual data rate)

Confused :/

 Advice appreciated

    Hi 90Ninety,

Here is the information directly from our service guide for the RAM.

    Hope this helps,
    Cory

asus v3 spec.PNGHmm the plot thickens...

According to CPU-Z the laptop is running 800Mhz Ram speed , this is 800 x 2 = 1600Mhz   ( DDR =  double data rate) . So this means intel spec is wrong , and service guide is wrong !

Or is it just me ? Smiley Wink

Alright, 2nd look showed that there was an updated service guide. The original didn't include your N3530. It does appear that the 1600MHz DDR3L is the highest supported by the chipset and it's also what we use in our spare parts list.

    Thanks Cory

I wonder why My ram speed runs above Intels spec . I am running 1600 currently despite CPU spec quoting 1333 Max

I also wonder why Crucial 9 scan tool)  recommend up to 1866, does this usually happen ?

I don't know that I have all the answers, for us it could be as simple as the 1333/1600/1866 will downscale to the appropriate speed with any other negative consequences. For Acer it could have been that the 1600mhz RAM was cheaper, but I'm purely speculating. I can't speak for Crucial.
