Possible to use 19.5v 1.2a micro usb charger to charge aspire switch 10?

I've got access to a micro usb charger used to charge a different Windows tablet, it uses 19.5v 1.2a to charge instead of the standard micro usb 5v.

Anyone know if this could be used to charge my aspire switch 10?  Or at least will it damage it if I try?

I'm not actually an Acer rep, just a community member who has been active enough (and I suppose correct enough Smiley Happy) to have earned the Acer Ace status. That said, oone of the perks of being an Acer Ace is the occasional chance to play with new machines after they are introduced. I got to play with a Switch 10 for several weeks after their initial introduction...

The problem with a micro USB charger is the Switch 10 is not designed to charge throough the USB port. pick up one of the many 3rd party chargers designed for the Switch 10 (and many other Acer tablet models).

Nope, the Switch 10 is expecting 12V 2.0A and 19V is liable to do nasty things to the insides. Smiley Sad

Wow, first reply is from an ACER rep.  Why didn't I switch from Dell sooner??

If I were to go find a 12v 2a micro usb charger on eBay, that would work, correct?  Or at least, I wouldn't be at risk of damaging my device by plugging it in?

Thanks for the quick replies, ACER support is impressive!

    Ah, I see.

Well, I already bought a small extension cord I bought at Walmart that I stuck on the end of my charger, so meh close enough.  It'd be SO NICE if it could use micro usb though, but certainly not a deal breaker.  I've gone through 3 different Windows tablets in about 3 months and I think I'm finally sticking with the switch.
