battery lifespan while gaming

I have stumbled to a dilema with my aspire vn7-791g, which i use for gaming among other uses.

However, as i was reading about prolonging battery life, the main reason for a battery to lose its spark is to charge it to 100% with and leave it on high temperature as it will damage the battery.

The idea is that to play a game on the notebook, you have to keep it plugged in and it will heat up.

My question is, when I plug my battery to play a game, am i damaging it because of the heat generated? How long is the best time to keep it plugged in while gaming, i usually sit for a gaming session no more than 2 hours, can i stay longer when the battery is at 100%? I also play games while the battery is charging, if it's fully charge i just let it discharge to about 20-40% to plug it in and start my gaming session, and stop while it is fully charges, which takes a bit over an hour and a half.

it is important to note that the battery is built in and i can't remove it.

    elienaoum,

The power management for battery charging will actually allow the battery to not reach full charge most of the time while in use. There is not damage being done if you leave the battery plugged in and charging all the time. If you feel that it might be discharging quickly it could be that the discreet chipset is set to be used for everything, even while on battery, thus burning through your battery life quite quickly.

    thank you for your reply,

I understand that i can leave the notebook plugged in without damage, however the issue comes if i'm leaving it plugged in while playing a game, which means that the notebook will heat up affecting battery temperature while charging. I am worried that this rise in temperature will damage my battery. Usually, if i'm not gaming the notebook stays cool, and there is no problem.
