OS doesn't see SODIMM module in second ram slot in my Aspire 5750G.

Hello.

I'am an owner of Aspire 5750G with Core i5 and 4GB RAM. I have tried to upgrade my RAM and insert 2GB module to second slot. OS doesn't see this second additional ram module.

1) Problem not in OS because it is 64-Bit.

2) Problem not in additional 2GB module. It works in first slot well.

3) OS doesn't see any module inserted into second slot.

Does anyone have such issues? What should I do?

What max GB per slot can I insert into my notebook?

Nikita.

if you boot to BIOS (press F2 at boot) with both ram modules inserted, the 2GB modul is listed on BIOS?

if not it's a compatible issue between the 2 modules, to be honest, since it's a multi-channel architecture, you must use the same size of ram, voltage and timings:

@Ironfly: It may also be a latency issue.

@Nikita: The frequency of the original stick of 4Gb is it 1066 or 1333MHz?

Original 4gb module and additional 2gb are both 1333 mhz. But it doesn't matter, because as I said OS doesn't see any module (original 4gb ram module or 2 GB module) while it is inserted into second slot and the first slot at this moment is empty.

Nikita, you must check it modules are seen in BIOS first.

@Laurent: timings = latency Smiley Tongue

Only module inserted into the first slot is seen in BIOS.

about ram compatibility, having ram module on first slot is not mandatory, so you can leave the first slot empty and have the ram modul on second slot only.

so if 2GB and original 4GB modules are not working on second slot, i think you have a broken slot.

@Ironfly: SuggestionSmiley Wink As the model isn't recent, I would clean the second slot with a contact cleaner spray.
