CMOS dead ?

Was using my Extensa 4422 and shut it down. Next morning it would not start.

Press Power button - It turned green

HD activity light blinked a couple of times then activity stopped and power light went off. This while plugged into external power.

No other symptoms.  Is this the way a CMOS dies?

Are there instructions available on how to replace CMOS and re-start to PC?

The one YouTube video I found is poor as it doesn't look like the person knew what they were doing so is of little help.

Laptop was running fine. Powered it off. Next AM tried to start it but all that happened was Power light would come on, then HD activity light flashed a couple of times then it shuts itself off even though plugged into charger.

Did some research and it seemed others that had similar replaced the CMOS and then everything worked.

Replaced old CMOS battery (2.34v)  with new battery (3.2v)

Pressed Power button. It lite up and HD activity lighed blinked a couple of times then the lights went out.

Any ideas on problem and what to do to fix it?

    Rogmarble,

If you have tried the steps in this thread and it didn't resolve the issue there could be a hardware problem.
