Its brand new laptop, and when I try to install windows 8.1 using bootable USB or CD neither of them works. ( Even after editing BIOS, disabling safe boot, selecting boot devices) Please help!

to install windows 8.1, safe boot doesn't matter.

your windows 8.1 DVD are original or burned?

if you have an iso file, try to create the bootable USB media with Rufus:

    http://rufus.akeo.ie/?locale=en_US

select only UEFI BIOS, select the iso image and let it burn the file.

once did it, plug the USB media to your E5, press F12 at boot and choose the USB flash drive as bootable device.

I dont have anything installed apart from stock linux. I've already tried installing it with RUFUS.

is the windows 8 installation media, the Microsoft or Acer erecovery?

are you trying to dual boot?

Have you created an ONLY UEFI bootable media with Rufus?

Windows 8.1; nope; I used MBR partition scheme for BIOS or UEFI computers

oh...obvious but BIOS must set to UEFI and secure boot enabled.

Worked!!! If anyone is having similar problem, do what IronFly said, and plug your flash into standart usb drive, not 3.0
