I purchased an Aspire V5 from Goodwill today. I can't set it up for myself, accounts says it is protected by "system administrator". Now what do I do? I didn't get it for peanuts either and no returns. Can anyone help please? Running windows 8

This is an update to my syst admin issue. I tried to reset the computer, but it stopped me by saying syst admin needed to sign in but it also said there were no accounts in the system!
This computer was used as a demo at a store. Maybe they have a special way of setting it up for demos?

Have you tried both the below mentioned reset steps :

Restart the computer and get to the windows login screen.

From the login screen, click the power icon in the lower right corner of the screen.

While holding Shift key down on your keyboard, click Restart.

Click Troubleshoot and select Reset Your PC.

    Click Next.

The system will reboot and begin Preparing to Reset the PC.

At the Reset your PC screen, click Just remove my files. Click Reset.

The other way is to  restart the computer.

    • When the Acer logo appears on the screen (As soon as computer powers on), press and hold the the left Alt key  and tap the F10
    • Select Keyboard Layout (United States English).
    • Please select Troubleshoot in Advance Options to choose Reset

If still unable to reset windows, you need to use the recovery media.

Thank you for the feedback. When I tried to reset, it says I need syst admin auth to proceeed. Then it says there are no user accounts set up in the system. No other options available. It asks for the admin evey way I turn. I didn't get any media with the computer.
This must be due to the fact it was used as a store display/demo. There has to be some way to get rid of it. If I reset, will I need some kind of recovery media? There is no disc drive. It has windows 8.

In this case you need use recovery media to restore your computer.

The recovery media is avaliable in USB flash drive for many models.

If you have a unit from US or Canada, you may purchase the recovery disc from Acer store : Acer Store

Insert the serial number in the box on the page and fill the application form to place the order

You may also live chat with an Acer technician at : Acer live chat
