How do I identify the exact camera installed in an AOD250 AspireOne Netbook

I have an AspireOne bought with XP Home on it. It is an AOD250 (To the best of me knowledge) Model Number is no longer legible.

Serial Number is [edited to comply with guidelines] (That '8' could be a 'B').

1. How do I identify the exact camera manufacturer for the Web Cam?

2. Has anyone found any Windows 7 Camera drivers? I've tried pretty much everything to no avail?

3. Nothing amiss shows up in device manager, where should the camera, if it is still functional, show up?

Thanks,

Mike Sr.

    SpiritualMadMan,

This will load a hardware detector tool that will help you know what hardware you have installed: Need to know the hardware on your system to choose the right drivers?

The good news is that Windows 7 is very intelligent and will seek out software for hardware that is installed. Typically that will show up under the optional updates.

I tried the Hardware Identification tool. Didn't work. As a matter of fact it didn't detect half the stuff that is working...

I suspect that the camera is no longer working. (drat)

I have been getting momentary connection errors between the base and the display when repositioning the angle of display.

I am starting to believe that the camera connection has been lost.

Either that or I've tried so many things that there is such a software/driver conflict it will never work again.

Thanks for trying, though. Just wish the news was better.

It's a shame that Acre doesn't have records of what they put in each Netbook by serial number.

The only other thing I guess I could try is to get a list of all the driver files involved and delete them all...

    SpiritualMadMan,

Well, if you haven't already there are applications under the Windows 7 applications tab of the drivers site that operate the camera itself, if you aren't finding drivers it should be using Microsoft drivers by default and that application will do everything else in regards to the camera.

I've checked and tried to figure out which actual camera is installed, but using that hardware identification tool seems to be the best bet for what it actually is. The hardware ID tool isn't going to give every piece of hardware, it only gives so much, but hopefully one is the camera modelue itself. Install one of those applications and see if that gets the camera working, if not try the other two and see if that gets it working.

Thank You for taking the time to dig for naswers in an attempt to help me. Hardware Vender Detection is only finding: Lan; VGA & Wireless. I do have an unidentified item in the USB Serial Bus Controllers list in Device Manager. There is no imaging device listed. I am suspecting that the camera has died. (Or, rthe connection to it is "messed up".) Or, Windows 7 Ultimate has "masked" it off somehow.

    SpiritualMadMan,

The only other thing I can think of, if you did create it, was load the drivers and applications disc and see if the driver is on there for it. If you still have access to the Acer eRecovery Management on the system you can try and access the drivers and applications section and try to reload it. Long shot, but something to try aside from the applications.
