Looking desperately for a solution to no sound on an Aspire 5002...installed Vista 32bit, and everything runs well except NO sound...others have had the same issue..There is a Vista driver for the Realtek sound chip, Windows update installed a compatible driver, but still no joy. Driver installs correctly but no sound and "NO AUDIO OUTPUT DEVICE INSTALLED" over volume icon persists. Can only see XP drivers on Acer support site, but there's GOT to be an answer.Have latest Bios installed, thinking it must be a chipset driver issue....but running out of ideas......Help!

can you post a screenshot of your device manager?

check if any yellow exclamation mark is present.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

can't post a screeen shot right now, but yes audio device has yellow exclamation mark I think it lists "Multimedia Audio Device" or similar So maddening because every other system and driver is working perfectly...even Windows Update flags the device as needing a driver...downloads AND installs the driver, but still nothing changes...NO AUDIO OUTPUT DEVICE INSTALLED when hovering mouse over volume icon in task bar...
