    Hello RFNM

I am new to the Acer brand and the Switch 11 is my first purchase! I have been reading this thread and I am having the exact same problem with the touchpad. All the sympotoms are the same. I am dying to know if anyone has been able to find a solution!!

I actually like the rest of the features like the FHD screen with active digitizer and the detachable keyboard etc.... so im really dissapointed really.

Anyway if anyone finds a solution I will be the happiest person.

    Thank you.

    Hello Axe,

Seems like we're all experiencing the same problem with no solution yet.

I will be sending my Switch 11 to the ACER repair center in USA for this problem,  but this will be in about 6-8 weeks from now (long story why).   I will post an update with the results of that repair and any further steps,  so stay tuned.

Honestly I don't expect the first repair attempt to be successful,  this is a difficult problem for a manufacturing test process or a repair test process to detect because it is intermittent and usually starts to occur (for me) after 10-30 minutes of actual use.   I can't imagine the repair facility is going to have a technician sit and operate the notepad for long enough to cause the problem (what would he or she do,  surf the web?, write a letter?...),  instead they will put the product through their normal test procedure, see that the touchpad is responding normally, conclude that everything is OK,  and ship it back.

Before sending it in I' plan to spend some time trying to find a good way to cause the problem quickly/easily,  and then take a video (post it on YouTube or somewhere accessible by the repair facility personnel).  This might help the repaiir facility be able to duplicate the problem more easily and will provide clear evidence of the problem.   If anyone following this thread can offer any tricks or a simple easy-to-follow procedure to stimulate the problem quickly - please do!

My strategy will be to capture video evidence of the problem,  send the unit in for repair,  hope that my expectation is wrong and that they do manage to fix the problem first time,  test when I receive it back,  if still a problem then capture more video evidence,  send it in again,  etc.   I will keep doing this repeatedly until it gets fixed or ACER gets tired of payingg for postage and makes some kind of alternate offer.   I have the luxury of doing this because I purchased this notebook as an emergency replacement for my main notebook which broke while doing some extended travel - I'll get my main notebook fixed then will be able to send this Switch 11 in for repair as many times as needed.

My stragegy will either tell us all how to get the problem solvved,  or it will give us a final answer that it's unsolvable.  Either way we will be able to stop wondering about it.

So stay tuned,  hopefully I can provide an update in about 8 weeks or so.

    Hey Irc

Thanks so much for the reply. My touchpad is inactive almost instantly and every time I use the system. So hopefully detecting it will not be an issue.

However I'm travelling right now and was really hoping a bios update or a driver update would fix this problem.

    Anyway thanks very much.

Wish you luck with the service and will come back here to hear about how it went.

    Cheers.

Had a similar problem after about a week. I finaly got Ubuntu running with keyboard and the problem really shows up. The mouse starts running all over the screen, mostly vertical at the speed of light, ramdomly clicking buttons. When I reboot to windows the mouse would still pause and some times disappear. Pulling the screen usualy helped for a bit.

This morning I pop open the keyboard (mostly to see about an internal drive). I pop the  touchpad connectors and pulled out the ribbon. Then I re-installed the ribbon and clicked down the connectors. Worked like a charm.

Been on all day and the touchpad hasn't missed a beat. Even in Linux.

    Still got my fingers crossed.....

Fantastic machine now that it works right.

Did any of you find a permanent fix for this?

Currently having issues with a retailer trying to blame me for the touchpad problem, and then saying that to fix it they need to replace the LCD display and the main board?!?!? Ridiculous I know, so I was wondering if any of you managed to get the issue fixed?

    Thanks
