When booting to Windows keyboard backlight is on. Even when I have earlier turned it off with fn + f9. Shouldn't it remember the status?

    jMk1,

I went and tested this on one of our Nitro units for you. when booting up the back-lit keyboard lights up. If I turn it on and restart, it will light up.

I'd like to research this for you and see what I can find out regarding this issue.

    jMk1,

After researching this with our engineers we came to the decision that this is working as designed. We have created an article regarding this for future customers that have questions here: How does the keyboard backlight work on my Acer Nitro?

    Thanks for your research.

I tried backlit default settings and it's like your answer page tells. Except when in battery power the keyboard light is turned off at the start but when you press some key the lights turn on. Little thing off course but have to turn it off with fn + f9.

So your answer page says it wrong. Default setting of keyboard backlight is'n off when battery power.

    Hello,

keyboard backlight doesn't make a sense at daylight times, it's only needed with insufficient light.

Isn't there a registry key to remember the last backlight status?

Dependent on the angle of view, the bxklight is annoying, because i see the LED directy through the keyboartd gaps. I suggest to change your "by design".

I have the same problem with my new Acer, there is no way to turn off the backlight as it keeps returning after each reboot. The solution in this thread is rather disappointing, I would love if somebody found a better one.

This is bad design - don't turn on keyboard lights by default - have them off unless someone turns them on - surely the better way to have it or even better software controllable.

    Hi,

My sister got a VN7-791G and she needs the keyboard lights, but the lights don't turn on when she does fn+f9 (which is the way to turn them on on this PC).

It was working at first, but not anymore since it went back from the tech support (for a fan problem).

Is there a way to make them work through the pc settings? I'll be glad if someone could explain me in detail the way to do that. I don't have the pc in front of me and my sis needs easy explanations.

    Thanks

Definitely this is bad design. It is very annoying to light buttons after wake or boot.

    1. It is better default state to be OFF.

    2. The best solution is to have setting in the BIOS.

    3. Even on battery default state is ON and backlight offs after some seconds, but on next keystrocke buttons are lighten again. Even more annoying. This should be really OFF always by default.

Please fix this is in next BIOS update - save user seeting for light, Numlock state.
