Aspire EX2509 P3YU Won't boot just black screen

Hi,

I have been around a few forums without any success. My laptop worked fine out of the box. I was then trying to set up an admin account from a normal user account account - without success. I shutdown to try again later. When switching on again the blues light shows and the fan runs but the laptop won't boot. I do remember that updates were available before I shut down last time. I did not knowingly start the download and log shut down.

What have I done so far?

Taken the battery out and held the power switch.

Switched on and pressed various F keys F2 F3 F8 (many times) F10

Downloaded windows recovery files. No luck

Purchased bootgenius and created dvd and usb recoveries they did not work.

What I have not done yet is to take out the hdd or lithium battery. There are too many screws, so that is a last resort.

My feeling is that this is not a h/w problem but windows 8.1

Any ideas would be appreciated.

ok you have the BSOD (black screen of death)  take a deep breathe Woman Wink I had it for days fighting it and fixing it,,,,lets see if we can get yours up too ..

shut it off and remove the power cord and than the battery... hit the start key just a few times... plug it in and than replace battery.. than try to see if it will start..

if not REPEAT the above and when you go to start it.. the minute you press start, hit the ALT and F10 key a few times .. and see if you can get to the screen..

once there please select FIX START UP.. let me know if this works for you

Strangely enough, I also had encounter the black screen issue yesterday before rebooting my Acer. At first it wouldn't shut down all the way, as the blue light was still appearing. The black screen only showed up once but I was able to boot it up again after holding the power switch. Afterwards, it going through some kind of system update. I guess it was trying to perform some updates in the background when I first shut it down. This was all before I had finally solved my touchpad lagging problem, but I guess the update brought back the problem again. Smiley Frustrated

    Hi Slick,

You are the lucky one! I have tried about all the combinations of keys, and knobs that have been suggested and have not managed to to get my laptop to get further than blue light, fan. When I have tried to boot with bootgenius usb.dvd both light up but do nothing more.

Well, if you have a working acer then leave it that way eh!
