if you can, try another SSD brand, maybe it's a controller incompatibility between SSD and notebook chipset.

is the SSD visible on BIOS?

press F2 at boot and check if it's listed.

if it's not visibile on BIOS, you will nevere able to boot from it.

have you checked if the system partition is marked as bootable?

try also to put back the old HDD, create the windows recovery media, completly wipe your SSD, put the SSD on your laptop and boot from the windows recovery media and check if the SSD is available as installation disk.

this system use the UEFI boot so no bootable mark.

    case 1:

i am using the acer win8 recovery USB drive(created from acer recovery on this notebook) to boot the notebook but it also can find the the disk.

    case 2:

i also try using the AOMEI Partition Assistant boot disk(winpe version) that can find the disk

this SSD is new, need completly wipe your SSD

this SSD can find if using AOMEI Partition Assistant boot disk(winpe version),but it can't find if using acer recovery USB drive.

it is because restoring win8 need use acer recovery USB drive

yesterday,i use the diskpart command clean option to this SSD and disable secure boot on UEFI,but acer recovery USB drive is also not find the SSD

any option on acer recovery USB drive to enable UEFI driver

PS:this notebook need remove many screws to open sata port for SSD and general win8 cd can't boot the installation screen that just circle ball always running

Acer erecovery works only under UEFI setting, secure boot doesn't matter as far as i know.

a thing to try is to use a clean windows 8.x installation media (not Acer) and check if the SSD is recognised, if so...it's a limitation on Acer erecovery.

i used the kingston v300 SSD that was no any problems for detection and migration on win8.

this may be the sandforce SSD controller more compatible with acer notebook

    thanks Ironfly

    You welcome. Smiley Happy

as last resort....check your BIOS version and update it if lower than 2.11 (need a working windows installation, flash tool is only for windows):

If you can't get your Acer USB recovery drive to work on a brand new SSD with Windows 8.1, here's what you'll have to do. This procedure only works for computers that came pre-installed with Windows 8 or 8.1)

    1. Put your Acer USB recovery drive in a safe place.  Don't plug it in to the computer now.  That will come later. If you don't have an Acer Windows 8.1 USB factory default recovery drive, then you need to make one now. Use google, youtube, this website, or read your manual for instructions.

    2.  Grab a new empty USB thumb drive of at least 4GB (no, not your Acer USB recovery drive because that should be in a safe place right now)

    3.  Use the link below to create a Windows 8.1 bootable media on that new empty USB thumb drive.  You're going to be doing a clean install of Windows 8.1.  Don't worry, your Window license key will be retrieved from the Acer motherboard automatically during the installation...so you won't have to enter a key (assuming your computer came with windows 8 or windows 8.1 pre-installed).  But first you must get the Windows and Windows installer on this blank USB.  Apparently it will also work with blank DVD, but never tried it with DVD.  I used a 32 GB sandisk cruzer USB drive that I had extra laying around.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

    4.  After you create the bootable media, make sure the power to your old hard drive is unplugged and your new SSD is installed.

    5.  Use the bootable media drive that you created in step 3. Install Windows 8.1

    6.  After the clean installation of Windows 8.1 is completed, you can now get out your Acer USB recovery drive from that safe place.

    7. Use your Acer USB recovery drive.  When the Acer USB recovery asks you if you want to repartition the drive (SSD), in most cases you will want to say yes.

Note: To my knowledge, the procedure above only works with windows 8 or 8.1 computers.
