Problem booting from Windows 8.1 Recovery USB

I have a new Acer Aspire E1-572 and after setting it up, created a Windows 8.1 Recovery USB. When testing it, I find that when booting from the Recovery USB, I'm prompted to select my keyboard and then to boot from the EFI USB. It then restarts and prompt me to select my keyboard etc.

Any suggestions on what I need to do to create a successful recovery USB stick would be welcomed!

thanks in advance

at boot press F12 and check if EFI USB is available as boot device and select it.

Yes, as long as the Recovery USB stick in is a USB socket, I'm prompted to identify my keyboard, and then given an option to boot from the EFI USB which I take. Doesn't seem to make any difference if I'm pressing F12 or not. Thing is that when I take the option to boot from the EFI USB, it just seems to reboot back to where I have to identify my keyboard etc.

Thinking the Recovery USB might be corrupt, I remade it via Windows and it made no difference.

Try another USB flash drive or download a refresh media from Microsoft:
