Where can I get the most recent updates for the Acer Aspire T180? I think this model is no longer being updated or I don't know, but I beleive that there was a Virus on it (This Computer)before, and the effects it did are still there, I am told, the virus was something about """Vos>>>""", I don't know.  Is there a way I can do a system restore without me having the restore system discs? As I bought this desktop second hand at a yard sale. Is there a system update I can download from the website?

Also I tried to download and install the Acer Empowerment, and alll those other Acer Products that was installed on the deskop when it was new, All those programs are not installed on the desktop, I had the Norton antivirus tech install the Antivirus on the Desktop, and the tech said that that I needed a major update to the desktop.

 Thank You.

I forgot to say that the main reason am asking for help is I can't get the sound or the speakers to work, I've tried everything from unstalling it to, installing another one, but nothing works, there is just a static noise coming through the speakers, I've tried asking and friends have tried looking at the speakers to work, if at least I can get the speakers or the sound to work I would be extremely satisfied, everuthing else works fine, just there is no sound. I need help fixing my sound.

      Thank you

Try reinstalling the Speaker driver. Control panel, Sounds. and select properties. make sure that speakers are selected, rather than say HDMI, or some other speakers. Yuo can also uninstall and when you reboot generic speakers will install. Also try to download speakers for a similar computer and install the driver should work for you.

Hi again, I have some issues here, with my desktop. On the outside of the desktop, the casing, the stickers on my desktop don't match the operating system, or windows says, The stickers on my desktop says "Windows Vista Basic" But in the desktop when i do the system properties it says "Windows 7 Home Premuim", Service Pack 1.  Wait I'll starrt again.

     On Desktop outside stickers says

    -Acer Aspire T180 Ea382B

    -Windows Vista Basic

    -160 sata harddrive

    -1 GB DDR1 memory

    -3800+ AMD Athlon(tm) 64 processor

    In the Desktop System Propertities

    -Acer Aspire T180

-Windows 7 Home Premuim Service Pack 1

    Processor: -AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3800+ 2.40 Ghz

    RAM: -3.00 GB (2.75)GB Usable)

    system type: -64-bit Operating System.

Why are they differnet from one another?

These I have Available If I need them.

    Windows Product Key:

    S/N:

    SNID:

They are listed on the sticker.

Do I need these to restore my system to factory default. Because I want to do a factory reset, MY SOUND/SPEAKER don't work, all I get is a static sound from it. I've been trying to get them to work for over a year now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

For the sound problem, I have tried

    -uninstalling it

    -disableing it

    -uninstall and restart

-device manager (yellow explamation mark is not there), It says the best and most update driver and driver is working properly(but it's not working)

-I tried another speaker, tried on another desktop

    - I trid other suggested stuff, I resseached.

There is a driver installed and that the speakers are plugged.

it says the peripheral is not plugged, I forgot exactly what it says, and when i click on the speaker icon and double lick, or that suggested advice above,

it says that the speakers are not plugged, but it is plugged the same happens if I try using headphones, or a microphone, nothing is plugged..

My Acer desktop is lying about the speakers and headphones not being plugged.
