You could try the suggestions here, though it sounds like you have already given most a try. If the problem is corrupted software you could uninstall and force file removal, by default a driver uninstall leaves the files and they are reloaded when you reinstall. If that fails you might have an actual hardware problem, most likely in the cable that connects the touchscreen to the motherboard.

When you first ask for the driver to be uninstalled there is a checkmark you can set to remove the files.

You seem to be right, the checkmark that was there in Windows 7 seems to be missing in 8.1. Smiley Sad Try to 'roll back' the driver by bringing up it's properties in device manager, then selecting the Driver tab. If that doesn't cut it (ie there's no older driver to roll back to) you can find the locagtion of the driver files by choosing the Driver Details button from the Driver tab. If you uninstall the driver, then delete the files manually it should require a reinstall to get it working again, rather than automatically doing it for you.

Not entirely true. Some devices like the Broadcom wireless have the checkbox for deletion. Others like the toucream driver do not.

What I would try would be to reinstall the Intel platform driver suite which includes those drivers.

I also encountered the same problem. My Acer Iconia W4 was working fine until one day, the touch screen was not responding well. I tried to reset my tablet thinking that it was infected by a virus or a malware and I'm very glad that it works.

I purchased my Acer Iconia W4-820-2882 on March 6th, 2015, Manufacturer Refurbished on Acer Ebay Store.  I was replacing an Acer Iconia A500 with the W4-820.   I'm also the owner of an Acer Aspire  5742z-4601 Laptop and it's has been a very good Laptop.  My Acer Iconia A500 Tablet and my Acer Aspire 5742z-4601 Laptop are still working and have been great for years.  I decided I wanted to take the plunge into a Windows 8.1 System and the Tablet was this step.  Shortly after My Purchase of the Tablet I purchased an Acer Aspire V5 573p-6896 Touch Screen Laptop with Windows 8 (I upgraded it to Windows 8.1).  The new Acer Iconia W4-820 Tablet fell to the wayside and only was used on special occasions (very little use).

On July 29th, 2015 I upgraded all of our Home Computers to Windows 10, including 1 x Self Built AMD Phenom II 940 3.0GHz Quad-Core, 2 x Acer Aspire V5 573p-6896 Laptops, 1 Lenovo G560 Laptop, 1 x Acer Aspire 5742z-4601 and 1 x Acer Iconia W4-820-2882 Tablet.  All Six Upgrades went like Clockwork, no problems at all.  Everthing working great, even the with the Acer Iconia W4-820-2882 Tablet.  Just Purchased the second Acer Aspire V5 573p-6896 Laptop in mid July for my wife!

Yesterday I took my Acer Iconia W4-820-2882 Tablet with me to Lowes so I could take notes (I'm Replacing my Roof).  It was working fine, no problems whatsoever.  I am always very gentle with my Tablets, Laptops and Computers in general.  I picked up my Acer Iconia W4-820-2882 Tablet today to look at my notes and the Touch Screen wasn't functioning.  I ended up holding down the Power Button to Restart the Tablet.  I was hoping a Restart would take care of the problem, it didn't.  I tried a Hard Reset, nothing.  I tried Reinstalling the Intel Driver Package, nope, nothin'. I have tried most of the things listed above to no avail.  I have Uninstalled Windows 10 (this was one of the first things I did thinking it might have been a Windows 10 problem).  I also ended up Restoring the Acer Iconia W4-820-2882 Tablet to the Factory Settings, noting has fixed this problem.

Checked my status on the Acer Warranty and of course the Warranty has Expired.

Will replacing the Touch Screen Work for fixing this Tablet?

Don't really want to spend the money if it won't work!

I've got a lot invested in this Tablet: Logitech Bluetooth Keyboard, Logitech Anywhere Mouse, High Quality LeatherCase, Screen Protector, Samsung 64gb Micro SD Disk, 10 x Stylus/Pens, Micro USB to USB convertor, etc...

The Tablet still works with a Mouse and Keyboard, but I purchased it for the Touch Screen.

The Touch Screen is why I also Upgraded our Laptops with the New Acer Aspire V5 573p-6896 Laptops.

Are the Touch Screens on these Laptops going to go out as quickly?

Try running a test tool like this one to see if it's really not working. I can't remember for sure, but I think the W4 has the digitizer bonded to the display, so a replacement involves replacing both. It also means the touch cable is likely included in the display cable, so if the display is working it's not likely to be the cable working loose.

    Billsey,

Thanks for the Reply, I didn't check back soon enough.

I already removed the back cover from the Tablet as my Tablet was no longer covered by warranty I have nothing to loose.

I just came back to post that I was able to Fix the Tablet Myself without Replacing anything.  I Reseated all Three Flat Flex Cables that have to do with the Screen (not sure which cable was responsible for what action).  Once I reseated the cables I plugged the battery back in and tried it after turning it on (before putting the back cover back on).  The Touch Screen is now working!

Been trying to post an Image with Instructions for others having the same issue.  I'm not sure how the Image Posting works here but I've been unable to post it!

Check this Link: http://community.acer.com/t5/media/gallerypage/image-id/8404i9851FAB445E7EF55 for the Picture.

It's not nearly as difficult as you would think:

Don't attempt this if your Tablet is Still Covered by Warranty as your Warranty will be Voided!

Also, if you're not 100% sure about your skills, please don't attempt this.

You are 100% responsible for your own tablet!

    1.  First Remove the Power From the Battery (Cable Located near the middle of the Tablet just above the Large Black Battery)(has Colorful Wires attached Red, Yellow Green, Black).

    2.  Next find the Black Flat Flex Cable at the bottom of the Tablet Near the Exterior Power Plug.

Trace this Black Flat Flex Cable to where it splits into two connection (The connectors are a Cream/White color and the Black Cable is now has Brownish Color Tabs for handling)(Black Flat Flex Cablet Overlaps the Large Black Battery).

Opposite where the Brownish Tabs is, use your fingernail to Flip the Cable Release Lever Up on the Cream/White Connector (both Connections).  Reseat the Flat Flex Cable and then Flip the Release Lever Back down (apply slight preasure to the cables to make sure they stay seated).

    3.  To the Right of these connections you will see another Flat Flex Cable (White Cable w/Blue Tabs this time).  This cable is thin and small and is Folder between Circuit Boards (one end may have black tape over the end (remove tape taking care so you can reuse the tape).  This White Flat Flex Cable w/Blue Tabs is connected to the same Small Circuit Board as the other Larger Black/Brown Flex Cable.  Carefully Flip Upthe lever opposite where the Blue Tab is plugged in.  On the other end of the cable is another connector (Brown) flip the lever opposite the cable and remove; then reseat.  Once Reseated, flip the lever on the connector down again.

    4.  Gently Plug the Battery Power connection back in.

    5.  Being very careful turn the tablet over.  Press your power button turning on the tablet to check the touch screen.

    6.  If the Touch Screen is now working you can carefully line up the Back Plate and click it back into place.

    7.  If it's not working I'd give reseating the Flat Flex Cables another try or two, you've really got nothing to loose at this point.

**** I do Stress, be Very Gently and Careful not to touch Circuit Boards while inside the tablet.  I'm not in any way going to responsible for your screwups!  Do not attempt to do this unless you're very comfortable working on electronic devices.  Below is a Link of a Picture I posted that may help you understanding what I've written above!

I posted directions of what you can do to try and fix your Touch Screen yestereday.

Later in the day I made a YouTube Video.  I call it a Video but it was a Still Photo on my computer that I pointed at with a pointer!  This was my first attempt at making a YouTube Video and I'm sure it's not the greatest, but I figured we needed a Repair Video out there for people like me!  My Acer Iconia W4-820-2882 was out of Warranty and I couldn't afford to sent it in and have it fixed.  I am pretty handy and doing repairs like this but a nice video always boosts my confidence.  Anyway, here is the link to my YouTube Video: Try to fix your own Touch Screen  For anyone knowing the technical terms of parts of the Iconia W4-820; sorry if I made mistakes with what items were called in my video.  Taking out the Flat Flex Cables and then Reseating them did work for me!

you have to replace it internal flat flexible cable which is in blue and white color near battery wire it's narrow which is connect to cpu in which u notice MB and TD written change it .after that if it don't work give it to service center to change the whole screen best of luck try the idea.
