I have an ACER Iconia model A3-A20 running android 4.4.2 the tablet does not detect the 5 GHz band on any wireless router. I have tried with and without encryption and nothing. The SSID is broadcasting and even adding the network manually does not work.

 I will apreciatte any help you can give me on this.

Thanks;

    Try to change router wifi channel to 10 or 11 and see if this works.

    Thanks for your response Ironfly.

    Well the channels on my router for the higher band start at 30 in increments of 4 and jump up to the hundreds Smiley Happy

    What I did was to disable auto channel on both bands and choose a specific channel for each. Also I forced the speed to 802.11n. The communication on the 2GHz channel improved but I still can't see the 5GHz channel on the Iconia tablet.
