It would help the community members if we knew the following:

What computer system do you have?

    What operating system?

Specifically which piece of hardware is giving this error code?

The computer is a desktop Acer X1920, the OS is windows 7, the error appears in device manager under windows portable devices (WPD) with a yellow triangle and a black exclamation mark

That is some better information, but doesn't completely help me figure out which piece of hardware is having the issue.

    Please do the following:

    1. Open Device Manager
    2. Right click the device with the yellow exclamation point
    3. Click on Properties at the bottom
    4. Click on the Details tab
    5. In the Property drop down list, select Hardware Ids
    6. Get the Values listed there and post them here.

Ther is no value under hardware lds, the device description is multicard.

The computer came just today back from ACER UK service because it froze, the Engineers changed the HDD, now it works but this problem has not been solved, I am excpetting the worst..Norton after the diagnostic report reccomends me to configure the device..

Every device, every single one, will have something under Hardware Ids, like:

    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_68F9&SUBSYS_03661043&REV_00

This is the physical descriptor of the hardware.

Usually there is a series of lines, from most complicated to very simple under Hardware Ids.

If you are unable to get a hardware id, then you are never going to be able to install that particular hardware as no driver will ever find it.

I hate to recommend returning to service for the issue, but it may be advised.

I can not remember how many times the computer has been in service, the Engineers in UK (Plymouth) just change the HDD.

I cross finger this time it will not happen !

I have send to them the same explanations I gave you.
I have installed the printer now and it comes under WPD, the sign ! has disappeared and it looks like Norton diagnostic tells me that everything is OK. I have also inserted a memory stick (SanDisk) and it appears under WPD. But neither the printer or the memory stick or the multicard have a lds hardware description. Everything is working (printer and memory stick). The mystery is just this multicard which apparently I have not installed and I can not see. Is it inside the computer ?

I don't want to send the computer to repair again..is something I can do ? maybe an update? pls advise.

Can you take a screenshot and attach it please?

That may help clear up any confusion.

I copied my screenshots in word document (MS office) and I cannot paste screenshot on this message (paste from word) because accepts only letters and not screenshot even if are in ms word.

If I try to attach my word document where there is the green three on the top of this mail, it give me just the option to send images on URL and does not give me the option to attach files from my computer...

    help

Instead of attempting to paste them into a Word doc just save and attach the image(s) from Paint.
