    Hi...Smiley Happy

Since you have installed a new hard drive, you need to use the recovery disc to restore the computer to facoty settings. It will install the Operating System, all the pre-installed Software and the drivers of your system. If you have not created the recovery disc after purchasing the compuer you may purchase it from Acer Store.

If you have a unit from US or Canada, you may purchase the recovery disc from Acer store :Acer Store
If you have purchased the computer in any other country, you may contact Acer support here : Acer Global Support

is your original drive still in operating condition?  if so you can use imaging software like Macrium Reflect Free to make an image copy of all the partitions on your old drive (including the hidden factory restore partition) and then use the 'restore' disk of the program to build your new disk, which will still be able to create new recovery disks or do an alt+F10 factory restore.

if your old drive is broken/unavailable and you do the recovery to the new drive using the disks, you will not have the recovery partition and will not be able to make any new recovery disks.

The hard drive failed in my sister's Aspire 5733Z so I replaced it and bought the recovery CDs from Acer.

I have tried using them twice now but they always stop at 5.RestoreProgress...Updating System:99%.  If I had know I couldn't use the CDs I wouldn't have wasted my money on them.  I have googled extensively and many people have the same problem.  I don't understand why Acer is selling the CDs.  I would like my $22.54 back.

Just did an online chat with an Acer tech support guy and he was no help at all and I would have to pay to go any further.  The disks don't work on a new hard drive.  I have tried several times now and always get stuck on number 5 at 99%.  If I wait 2 or 3 hours and finally push the power button to shut down and restart, I just get an error message saying there is no bootable drive.
