I have inserted a 32gb Micro SD card in my Acer Iconia B71 and it shows up nicely under settings, EXTERNAL SD.

It is very small when fully pushed in, how do I remove it please ?

You push down gently with a fingernal or jewelers/eyeglass flat bladed screwdriver or nailfile and it should pop up.

I have owned many products with microSD card slots.  The ACER Iconia that came with a very expensive peice of lab equipment will not allow the SD card to spring back out.  I was able to remove it with a forecept.  How do i fix this thing.  Has anyone else had this issue?

Which model of tablet do you have? Most, if not all, should have a spring actuated slot, but I know of other product the don't have the spring, so there is a possibility that Acer made some SKUs without one.

    Thanks for the response, Billsey.

It is an Iconia W3.  This might be an older model as it runs Windows8 not 8.2, but it is brand new.  It was bundeled in with a WALZ PAM2500 fluorometer.  It is needed to run the instument, so sending it off to be reparied would not be possible and it is not like i can run to the local box store to return it.

Can you advise how to determin if there is a suposed to be a spring and how i can verify if it is missing? Is there an image or exploded view of the slot/reader? I will ask the lab tech who got the SD card out with forecepts if he felt springyness as it came out.

Must i crack the tablet open?  how do i do so as i see no screws.  Where do i order a spring?

So far all the problems with the fluorometer have not been the fluorometer, just the Acer tablet that runs it and windows 8.

    Any help is apreciated.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Do you have to pull the SD card at regular intervals? If not I wouldn't worry about it, just keep using it as is. I doubt very much if the spring is available as a separate part, it would be integrated into the SD socket which is likely soldered on to the motherboard. The fix via warranty repair wouold be to swap the motherboard out.

There are a number of other people here with W3s, so we should be able to find out if there's supposed to be a spring in there... I played with one a couple of years ago, but can't remember if it had one or not, although I do remember putting a 64GB card in to verify that the SDXC cards were supported, at least partially. With my Cubox-i (which uses a springless socket) the card slides out fairly easily with just a fingernail slipped over the top edge of the card, though the first few times I removed it was tighter.

Yeah, i will need to remove it often.  That is how i can transfer data.

I have items that take microSD with a spring and just pull in and out.  Based on how deep this thing goes i predict it should have a spring but it did not.  If someon could validate that I would apreciate it.

I can look into the warrenty if indeed it should have a spring.

This was rather difficult to remove. Had to use forecepts.  those fine enought to get in there were too flimsy to pull it out.

    Thanks for the help.

Can anyone with a Iconia W3 confirm that the SD card should pop out of its slots by means of a spring?  Before I squak to Acer?
