This Aspire E5-511 is a real slug. 3x in 2months to the repair house and back for mysterious faults, and now a couple of weeks from the last fix, it's mighty slow and cannot use the reset Win8.1 to rescue from the blue setup recovery. What next ? I tried to use deisk recovery but it hung up.

This machine is ready for the B&D to be sawn in half. The trouble this PC has caused. Acer repair in Switzerland is a 4 wk service, utterly lousy, and as mentioned was returned with incorrect windows code.....so back it went again.

The HD has no short term generic issues. With chkdsk/f  does detect missing cluster but on start up isn't being fixed as I run it time and time again. Same result. Some start up data is missing as I cannot use the C:\ command. It's missing from safe mode.

Apart from the circular saw trick, anyone got any last download idea ? ACER have been appalling.

if you have HDD clusters errors, there is not more to do than change the HDD.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

Thanks..You are right.....I managed to get a vital windows update via the control manager; bypassing the advance tools (blue zone section. I also ran Seagate diskcheck; which picked up a fault on long generic test. SO you are correct; the HD though functioning needs replacing. I'm rather curious that the cluster discovered  by chkdsk/ specified "not a critial error". Perplexed ? Sure am.

    Saved from the B&D saw.
