I have an Acer Aspire 5517, couple of weeks ago (while trying to chat with friend on Skype) I realized that my microphone and webcame are not working. I removed and reinstaled the drivers but nothing. Don't know what else to do.

Thank you for all your help.

I am having the same issue with my Aspire 5745G.  I tried to run a troubleshooter and got the error message with error code "0x800706F7".

Windows tried running some diagnostics for me with a representative and they said they think it may be an internal hardware issue.

I don't remember when this started, but it was a long time ago, so a system restore is not possible.

I tried repairing the driver from http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers but it wouldn't let me.  Then I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it and it said the webcam was not connected.

Alright that helps, my name is Joe btw.  Can I have you do the following:

    • Right click on the "Start" button and select run
    • Type in the followinf "msinfo32.exe" and press enter
    • Then select "File" from the menu
    • Select "Export"
    • Name the file and save.
    • Then please message me the txt document through my profile

Then go ahead and run Windows Update just to verify nothing new has hit in the last few days.  After that please open your event viewer and lets see if we can find anything obvious there.
