Hi. I am trying to reinstall Windows on my Gf laptop; an Acer Aspire V5-531, model MS2361. At select which HDD to install Windows, it denied the install onto that harddrive since it was GPT partisjon, so I try to reformat the HDD, that didnt work, so I tried a tip from the internet:
"diskpart
List disk
Select disk
Clean
Exit"

I then reformated the HDD
This trick let me proceed but after it was done unpacking the file from the DVD, i got an error code 0x80070017. After a quick google search it sand i had to fiddle the bot sequence of the DVD drive to make it compaitible, but noe I cant access the BIOS. I press F2 at boot, but it only goes to "click a Key to boot to drive" and then to Windows install. If I DONT have the cd on I Get a long screen of text saying "PXE-e61: media test failure, Chess cabel"

So what do I do at this point?

i would check if the DVD has any scratch and i would create an USB windows media installation to avoid this kind of problems.

it works fine on my other PC, I jsut tried, and I cant boot from my USB since I can't change the boot order without entering the BIOS xD

it would boot from USB if it's before the boot from lan.

Have you tried to press F12 to select the bootable device?

If I remove the Windows CD, it will boot to this and then to no OS and then just back and forth between those imagesDSC_000019[1].JPG

normal behaviour, since BIOS looks for a bootable device and it halts on LAN boot (PXE message)

can you take of the battery, unplug AC adapter and press power button for 10-20 seconds, then put everything back and hold F2 while pressing power button.

CMOS for sure will reset the BIOS, so if you are able to open the notebook....

Try to boot from USB if possible, before opening the notebook.

No need to tear it apart. The reason you can't enter the BIOS is the computer goes into a fast boot mode when you push the power button. To access the BIOS, just watch the following video:

Oh, and in case your wondering what that PXE error is all about. PXE or (PIXIE) is how you would boot from a network.  It's actually how I do a majority of my installs. A PXE error means that it didn't see any network boot commands from your network card. Obviously if your not setup to boot from a network then you will get that error. If your interested in doing a pixie boot install, I'd recommend using a program called "SERVA"
