Aspire 4315 Password Request after Factory Reset
Hello,
I used the eRecovery application to "Restore to Factory Defaults" on an Aspire 4315.. However, upon rebooting, I was taken to a welcome screen that asks for the credentials for an "Other User" account. I tried a variety of User Names/Passwords, but with no success. What are my options? Ideas? Thanks in advance.

I gave it a try with all those combinations, but no luck. Thanks for the suggestion all the same. I have a recovery disk on the way; I'll post back with an update.0

Try booting in safe mode and Administrator and change the password

Booting in safe mode still brings me to the welcome screen asking for credentials. The resolution suggests a safe mode boot, but stills requires a username/password. Trying to boot the machine normally shows this resolution as well..

When the default password doesn't work, it usually means someone has changed it. You will need to access the command prompt http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/119713-diskpart-pc-startup.html

Just a little update - Thanks for the links, they were very helpful. I was never quite able to figure out the username/password, but did a re-install of the OS and got back into Windows without any further troubles.

I think default password is 000000. Not sure.

In cases like these, I just use Lazesoft's "recover my password" and just blank out the old password. Haven't come across a windows machine yet that I couldn't reset the password on.
