Iconia B1-720 NTFS Support

When I plug my external NTFS hard drive in it fails to be recognised properly - a message appears at the top saying something about recognising  a blank SD card but when I remove it it says external USB ejected

I am ion Kitkat 4.4 and have recently updated the tablet firmware but i still can't see the mounted USB drive - small flash drives work fine

thanks

if your external HDD need power supply from USB, your tablet can't have enough "juice" to let it work and i'm not really sure if NTFS is still supported on stock android.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

With a fairly quick search, I'm not finding any solutions for mounting NTFS on KitKat without rooting first. Smiley Sad Looks like Google took that capability out...

Thanks I got that impression too - can you point me to a defintive source of info for rooting - I'm new to Android and don't want to make any mistakes

    I have a Acer Iconia B1-720

    CPU Version MT8111

    Android Version 4.4.2

    Kernel Version 3.4.6

    many thanks

I can't. That is something not allowed here. I will warn you that rooting voids the warranty, and breaks online updates. Have you thought of putting the NTFS drive on another PC and then using network sharing to access? I haven't looked into that with KitKat, but it should be more possible than mounting directly.

I am traveling and want to use the portable HD without the need for a PC - didn't know rooting chat was banned sorry - I know it invalidates the warranty but at £80 it's no big deal....
