Hello.

(Sorry about my English, it is bad Smiley Happy )

I have bought new Acer Aspire E 15, E5-511-P461

S/N [edited for privacy]

Then I installed to him SSD drive, Intel SSD 530.

And when I try to instal win 8.1 x64 on it - windows installer does not see any HDD. He suggest me to load driver..

I have tried any drivers.. From intel SATA/RAID/AHCI.. - doesnt work.

In bios SSD drive - is detected! And thru USB -> SATA converter from windows it is work OK!

In bios is AHCI mode selected.

I try UEFI and Legacy modes - doesnt matter

Then I try to install it on my OLD Aspire 5738ZG. I put Intel SSD 530 to it, choose SATA AHCI in bios, then put same windows 8.1 install cd and it see it! I can install windows!

Then I try to put Win7 x64 to my E 15, and its see it! It see SSD!

So, I made a conclusion Acer E5-511P has no compatibility with installation Win 8.1 on SSD drive! It does not see it!

And it is not hardware problem, because BIOS see it, and Win7 installation CD - SEE IT !

So, it is software problem, may be in BIOS ?

I have send an email to acer - no any answer.

I hope specialists from ACER.COM read this forum, or this forum read people who can contact to acer workers Smiley Happy

It will be veeeeery GOOD ! Smiley Happy Realy.

Really need to solve that problem!

All advices from all people are welcome!

PS Have tried initialize it from Windows disk management, initialized OK, formated OK, but still not see from win 8.1 installation setup..

Connect the SSD to a computer with USB. Note what drivr letter it is.Open a command prompt as Administrator. Type Diskpart, then list disk, then select disk ?, where ? is your SSD,then clean.Exit and install SSD in E 15, choose UEFI or Legacy, whichever you want, and boot Windows disk.

Did you select "Custom" install? Try Diskpart again and this time continue to make disk active.

    DISKPART

LIST DISK and identify your disk number (from 0 to n disks)

SELECT DISK <n> where <n> is the disk number

CLEAN ALL (Will Take Some Time)

    CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY ALIGN=1024

FORMAT FS=NTFS (Will Take Some Time)

    ASSIGN LETTER=M

    ACTIVE

    EXIT

    EXIT

[ Immediately Terminate Install Process Completely ]

    And

    Reboot using Installation DVD.

    Yes, I select "Custom install".

May be try to choose "Upgrade mode".. But I think will be the same, something like "Setup cannot find installed OS".

But I try to made it..

And my friend advised me to use Acronis Boot CD, to make some initialization of SSD.. May it helps, I will try..

But in realy I have already not enough ideas, 2-3 days of working with that..

Terrible is that it works fine on my Acer 5738ZG, and works fine with Win7 install CD, and it means that trouble is with NEW ACER E15 Smiley Sad

    And it is offensive..

Then I create a partition on it and boot from cd - SSD not seems.

Do you have any "secure boot" setting to enable or disable on BIOS?

Can you create a bootable windows 8.1 USB media installation, instead of using the DVD?

you can download the .iso from there and then use Rufus to create a bootable USB pen:

    By the way:

UEFI must be enabled to install Windows 8.1

Secure boot can be enabled or disabled, doesn't matter on install.

Have you burnt the USB as GPT/EFI BIOS compatible and formatted as FAT32?

secure boot must be disable for more compatibility and UEFI enabled.

Yes, I burnt it with "GPT partition scheme for UEFI computer".

    And file system Fat32.

Secure boot disable, and UEFI enable - YES, it is.

"Pressing F12, the USB pen was missing?"

    Where I must press F12 ?

    To enter bios ?

Yes, in bios my usb pen is detected, like a "USB flash drive SanDisk.." Something like that..

"can you try with another USB pen?"

Yes, I can.. But I need to buy anoter 8gb USB flash..

And I think it does not help.. Why it must helps ? If this Win 8.1 .iso DVD perfect works with my SSD on Aspire 5738ZG.

And my Windows 7 setup DVD is see SSD on Aspire E5-511P..

ok, if the USB pen is listed on BIOS, at boot press F12 to choose USB pen as bootable device and boot from it.

give a last try with the USB windows 8.1 installation.
