Need to activate hardware keyboard on an Aspire V 15 Touch

You can try FN + F10. It works for the R7, but probably not for the V 10 (VN7). Have you checked in Device Manager/Keyboard to see if there is a problem with the driver? Does it recodnize the keyboard? You can run this utility to make sure.

Finally, download the driver, uninstall the current one and check the delete software box. Reboot and install the driver.
