How do I store or retrieve files to or from BYOC?

How do I store or retrieve files to or from BYOC? Since a Windows tablet presumably cannot connect to a desktop PC by USB, I wanted some quick way to move data between my Iconia and my desktop PC, so I installed all those apps (I will NEVER use most of them), but all they do is ask stupid questions.

Easiest way is to create an ad hoc wireless network between the two devices and set up shares (lotsa web pages on this) I use wired connections because they are much faster & I have RJ45 links.

There are also local "cloud" devices you can use for this such as the Acer Orbe (apparently discontinued), IOGEAR MediaShair, or Patriot Gauntlet series (with or without drive).

Just depends on what you want.

Do I understand correctly that you are suggesting to do without the official Acer BYOC service? Sure I can do that, and there are multiple ways to do it.

I just thought that since Acer is pushing this official BYOC service, I might look around the official Acer web and get some hint how to make BYOC work.

Not necessarily but is important to make sure the device is up to date before using the cloud. I also prefer to store things locally so was presenting some options particulalrly for devic <> PC transfers that do not use the cloud at all. Nothing wrong with the Acer BYOC but does require special drivers.

I use the various BYOC reasonably often. They work fine for allowing access to files from any of your devices transparently, but you do have to be connected in order to access any files that aren't stored locally. I have my desktop, laptop and tablet (all Windows) and my tablet and phone (both Android) with the apps on each. I can play music that's on my desktop with the phone or access Office documents that are on my laptop with the desktop, etc... In what way is yours not working?

In what way is mine not working? -- I click on the abFiles icon, a window appears listing my ID and 3 options: Account, General and Info. Each of the 3 options provides more nonsense options like Info.Send an opinion, etc. So I am repeating my question: What am I supposed to do to store files to be transferred through BYOC? What am I supposed to click now? Or is the abFiles icon irrelevant?

Do you have any other machines set up yet? When I open abFiles I get Windows Explorer with one of my other machine's folders displayed. Under the tree display at the left I see each of my other machines that are currently up and running. I wouldn't be surprised if you got a different display if there weren't machines to connect to.

OK, we are getting somewhere. When I open abFiles I do NOT get Windows Explorer.  I get a window with titles "Device Manager" and "Acer BYOC Apps" and with icons indicating my devices connected to the BYOC. No folders, no tree display at the left. I see each of my other machines that are currently up and running.

So, apparently there ARE connected machines, and the abFiles app is aware of them, but I see no way to send data from one machine to another.

Hmm, that sounds like the window I get from Acer Portal, not abFiles. I wonder if there's a configuration setting? BTW, i noticed I'm only seeing my Windows devices, not the Android ones...
