Generic drivers vs OEM?
Hello Community! I am using the Gateway NE56R41U it orginally came with windows 8 i upgraded to windows 8.1 and now I noticed the driver for the graphics card isn't the same as the one they recommend for this laptop running 8.1... I tried to install the driver and it don't let me.. I try to force the driver to install it don't let me it says it isn't compat with my version of windows.. I choose the right one for windows 8.1 64-bit.. If i try to install the Intel site generic drivers for intel hd graphics would it cause any problems? Like what is some of the things Acer changes in the driver before releasing it on their website?

Try the latest Intel driver or use the update utility and see what intel picks.Sounds like you've got no other choice.

What could be the issue with the one acer/gateway recommends not wanting to install?

This won't be the first time someone had problems with an Acer 8.1 driver. How did you install 8.1, upgrade?

I installed via the windows store.
