I had to replace the hard disk and reinstall the system from recovery CDs. Trying now to use the 3G connection results in (translated): "No 3G device recognised". I use the SIM card which functions with my pad. I tried then to repair the 3G driver then to deinstall and reinstall it but all without success. I also cannot recognise a corresponding entry in the Device-Manager. Any suggestions how I could get it working again? Thanks in advance for your help.

Have you downloaded the drivers from Acer support website?

    http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers/2534;-;TravelMate%208572G

if you are on windows 7:

Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then, under System, clicking Device Manager.
If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Where you see the Yellow exclamation mark, double click it, choose "Details" tab, from the dropdown menu choose "HardwareIDs", click the first string and copy/paste it here.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your suggestions.

Yes, I did try it with this driver and additionally also with the one originally provided with the recovery CD. Both did not help.

I had already looked at the device manager. I mentioned initially that I could not find a relevant entry in it indicating the 3G Module. The device manager does not contain a yellow exclamation mark.

After an additional thought: Could this be an indication that some connections to the 3G Modul may have been disconnected when the hard disk was replaced?

on Device manager, select to show hidden devices on View tab.

about HDD and 3G disconnection....i don't know where the 3G module is in the mainboard, so i can't confirm if it's possible.

Activting hidden devices adds the "Non PnP Drivers" in yellow. There is no exclamation mark. I still cannot recognise in the device manager an entry which could be related to the 3G Modul or its driver.

Is your SIM inserted when checking on Device manager?

Have you tried to push the "radio" button to switch between wifi-bluetooth-3G (with SIM inserted)?

Same results in Device Manager with SIM inserted.

I'm not sure whether I am looking at your "radio" button. For connecting with the Internet the menue offers three options (translated):

    - Wireless

    - Broadband (PPOE)

    - Modem (dial-in via telephone line)

There is no option for 3G. I do not remember whether Wireless handled in addition of LAN (wi-fi) also WAN (3G).
