What's your Revo exact model?

Ok, you can get 5.1 via optical cable, you need to open the Realtek audio control panel, it's in the windows control panel.
set the output as 5.1 and the optical out as the default audio output device.
you can set the output device also right clicking on the speaker icon near date and clock, select playback devices
then right click on the optical device and set as default.

There is no option to select 5.1. Identical problem in Intel panel, there is no option for hdmi audio. Next step is possibly factory restore the computer.

ok
seems that 5.1 on HDMI is possible but need a good receiver that gives the correct "handshake" to the Revo.
so you need to hook Revo and 5.1 capable receiver and see if on Intel panel or windows sound panel gives you an option for 5.1
if not, can be some kind of compatibility issue.
by the way i think that 5.1 over optical cable will be easier and without any problem to set 5.1 but this must be done on Realtek panel or Windows playback devices panel, selecting optical output as default device.

Problem solved! Factory reset. HDMI multi channel audio works fine.
