New E5-571 Touchpad Woes
Hi,
I've just bought a new Aspire E5-571 to replace my trusty 5 year old 5736Z, but the touchpad is horrendous.
It freezes, doesn't pick up my finger all the time and hardly wants to scroll when you grab the slider bar on screen.
I've seen a few other posts about this - is there a solution yet?
Thanks,
Pat.

Sometimes, it doesn't even accept clicks of the left button.
Very
at the moment as I really need a fully working solid computer as I use it for work.
Not sure what to do now.
I've always bought Acer in the past and have never had a problem like this.
Help.........

In this case, you can try downloading the latest touchpad drivers for your model and see if that resolves the issue. To do this, you can follow the steps below:
1. Go to http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers
2. Type Aspire E5-571 in the box below "Search by Product Model" and click "Search".
3. Click on your model number from the list that comes up.
4. Once the details about your model are displayed, select your current operating system appropriately from the drop-down menu besides "Operating System".
5. Now, click on "Driver" tab and locate suitable Touchpad driver for your model. Click "Download" and follow on-screen instructions to install the latest drivers in your computer.Hope this will help you.

In this case, you may need to check if there is any hardware issue. To do this, it is recommended to visit your nearest Acer service center. The following link can help you to do this:

Update:
After several chats with Acer on-line and trying all sorts including a 3 hour factory reset, I'm having to return the computer to Acer.
This was a brand new machine which I urgently needed for work.
What a joke.
Very frustrated.
Never had this problem with an Acer before and willl probably not buy one again.

Yeah, this doesnt work. I understand you're trying to offer a solution, but the drivers get corrupted every time the laptop goes into sleep mode. We need a solution.

Hi All,
This won't help Avoneer as their problem seems to be hardware.
However, I have found a solution which is working on my E5-571G which may apply to yor machines. On resume from sleep the touchpad ceased to work but disabling and enabling the I2C HID Device driver it worked fine until it went to sleep again. Windows 8.1 has a fast startup option which is enabled by default. Disabling this has resulted in no more touchpad issues. To disable fast startup just google "disable fast startup in windows 8".
Good luck

May 2015: I tested a brand new ES-571 during 2 days, then return the unit to Acer for repair Touchpad. After 4 times shipping back and forth, Acer accepts to replace with another model. I choose one model, now they drag their feet ... Does not want to ship fast.
Aug 2015 : Still waiting. Client does not a laptop.
This is the lesson : - Client should not waste time to test with different drivers. It is the job of Acer.
- Even Acer cannot solve that Touchpad problem.
- Acer does not really care about putting out a good product.
- Service after sales STINGS.
- Client should revisit Acer only in 2018, 2019... Hoping that they will finish with the defective batch of product.
