Acer Swicth battery drain when shut off

hi,

I've recently bought the first revision of this tablet and I can't solve this problem.

I've tried everything. all drivers updated, also windows updates, bios updated, airplane mode, all apps draining battery closed, bt off. docked and without dock. I've tried with sd card inserted and without.

I've also done a couple of factory reset. In a last try a made a factory reset and without installing wifi i shut off pc as soon i got into windows, so nothing installed, but it keeps draining.

It drains about 1% per hour when shut off. The strange fact is that when used in ordinary days the tablet lasts 6/7 hours as it should.

If can help I've made some sleep studies, the main offenders are these:

I suspect it is going to sleep with the wireless active rather than shutting completely down. Need to go into Device Manager and turn all of the wireless "Wake On" settings off and into Control Panel Power and make sure the power button is set to "shud down" and not "sleep".

    Thanks for reply.

I've already tried with: powercfg -devicequery wake_armed, to find what can wake up the pc, and remove everything.

In the Broadcom 802.11abgn Wireless SDIO Apdater i don't find anything related with the wake up settings (By the way I though that putting the tablet in "airplane mode" should avoid every wake from the wifi)

I'll try  to put all the options in the Control Panel to shut down...

Did you go into Device Manager>Network Adapter>[Broadcom SDIO]>advanced, and scroll to the bottom ?

Yes, I've read in another forum about the Asus T100  with the same problem to set this something way:

Wake on pattern match = disabled

Wake up on RSN = disabled

    Wake up mode = all

Should i put also the wake up mode on NONE ?

I've tried to put all wifi setting to off, together with airplane mode, dock off, no tiles and everything else i could think.

Shutted down setting "shut off" when pushing the power button.

    From 22.04 to 9.46 drained from 45% to 37%.

    It's 8% in about 12 hours.

It's more like a suspended stand by than a shut off...

I am seeing a drop from 99% to 93% in about the same time with a W3 running Win 10 Preview so agree, something is running in these tabs, the question is "what". It might be the BIOS charging circuit which is required to be able to detect precense of a charging current.

The only way I know to find exactly what is happening would be to open the tab and monitor the address and data lines to see what is running when "shut down". Anyone have a different method ?

i got the same issue, 1%/h discharge on shutdown, i wasn't able to find the root cause.

i tested also to boot to Ubuntu and then shutdown, this to cut down windows completly, no luck.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

In a more common setup for ordinary use, that is WiFi ON, Tablet docked, tiles, windows update on, the draining in even more elevated, about 1,5% per hour.

Snce the fact the tablet seems to drain even in non windows 8 systems, like Ubuntu or Win 10  I suspect something at bios level, probably connected with the wifi or the dock ...

I've read that also the Asus T100 had similar problems that seemed resolved with a bios update.

    I've made another try.

I've installed the newer Broadcom drivers for the wifi, officially the ones for the Asus T100. It did not solve the drain problem and the option to put the tablet in Suspended Standby disappeared, 'so i'll roll back to the old ones.

The problem is still unsolved ...

    Hi!

I have been having the same problem. Everyday when I leave work I would shut down my switch 10 still with charge in it (doesn't matter how empty or full it is) then I keep it in my bag. Two hours later when I open it at home, I noticed it would get really hot, and would be completely discharged everytime I open it. What should I do?

I might try disabling the WiFi adapter and then shut down. If it keeps a charge then we knw what is draining it.

I've tried to disable the wifi from Device Manager with 100% charge and no dock.

From around 8.00 a.m since now, so more or less 14 hours, it drained 10%.

It's less than before but it's still more than it should consume, as far as I know.

You might have to disable Bluetooth as well...

That did the trick for me. That means i have to remember to turn it off before I shut it down.

Which Trick? Disabling wifi every shut off from device manager or putting in airplane mode?

How much does it drain now ?

There should be a "wake on" or "keepalive" setting for both that you can turn off. At least now we know what needs to be done.

I just found a very useful program BatteryInfoView which can monitor battery use as long as there is some semblence of life. The F8 mode may help determine what is happening and when even when the display is blank.

    Hi,

I also have a severe battery drain problem when the unit is supposed to be sleeping.

The main culprit is always something called I2C Controller (\_SB.I2C7)

I have found that this device says it is using power mode D0 which is a fully on state, but I don't know how to change this.

Has anybody solved this problem yet?
