The 24G ssd shows as non formatted with 100% free space. I was told it was used to hold the information when the computer goes into hybernation. This is puzzleing since the hyberfil.sys file is on the C Drive. Can someone help me understand?

Well I've done more research, the SSD is in use by program expresscache.exe by Diskeeper. if you run eccmd - info at a command prompt the details of the cache is written to screen. The SSD will not have a drive letter or appear formated.

    hi...

The SSD is used as cache memory between the hard disk drive and system memory. You do not have the option to store data on install any apps on this SSD.

That  is what the information  said, but how? the drive isn't formatted and always have 100% free. How does Acer go about putting chace on this drive when it is not writeable. There has to be something in Win8 that points to this. I could not find any. The files used for pagefile and hybernate are on C: drive. Maybe I will disconnect the SSD drive and see if there is any change to hybernate mode speed.

That drive was used by the Intel Smart Response Technology  And I believe that it is just a raw (unpartitioned, no file system) drive which should be set in the Intel's driver to be used. Something as explained in  Intel doc. You may check for the Intel Rapid Storage in the Control Panel and it will show it there

Intel Smart Response Technology  is not installed on my computer. I checked Control Panel and Program Files. I went to Intel web site and tried to check out this technology. The software I downloaded says This computer does not meet minium requirements for SRT. Now what?

I have been doing some research and have come to the conclusion the SSD drive is not being used by SRT. The Bios has no option to set the SAATA drives in Raid mode. Also if the drive was being used for cache it would contain some data at one point or another. The drive is always 100% free. Can Acer explain this or was it a sales pitch that had no merit. There must be someone who can answer this question! How can acer advertise something that does not exist or am I wrong.
