This is rediculus a $650 product that when upgraded to 8.1 the driver for the graphics adapter will not work. I have reinstalled windows 8 and upgraded to 8.1 three times to no avail. Tech support is usless on this issue all they suggest is reinstalling the OS.

After trying several drivers I tried the original 8.0 driver for my P3-171 on the ACER site and it worked. I am running the 8.1 upgrade and my HDMI out works with this driver.

Did you check to see if Intel has released an updated driver? You can often find newer drivers directly from Intel.

I am assuming that you already tried the 8.1 driver on the Acer site (10.18.10.3304)...

Yes I have, Acer has an update for the Intel 4000 graphics adapter and a BIOS update for Windoes 8.1. I am a PC Tech and have been since 1995.

I figured  the drivers would be the same as the W700 drivers, only running at a different resolution. I'm running the 10.18.10.3621 version on my W700 without issues.

This is not the driver Intel recommends when doing the autocheck on their site. I am using Windows 8 at the moment it sucks as an OS and is not what ACER promised. At least everything works and I can do HDMI out.

If your system has the Intel Graphics 4000 I recommend you go to CONTROL PANEL and click on DEVICE MANAGER. Inside DEVICE MANAGER look for yellow exclaimation marks, if none appear you are good.

I tried the driver you recommended with no luck. Intel also listed a later verson for the Windows 8.1 64 bit OS. I tried it as well. I am lost having worked on this pos for weeks. I am going to call Acer support again since I am still under warranty. I could most likely fix the issue if Acer provided a bloatware free DVD of the OS. This would allow for a clean instal but after paying almost $700 for this why should I have to spend another $100 on a OS DVD

Odd, I thought you had done the driver update before the OS update before as well... At least it's working now!

I have the exact same problem and tried everything I can think of:

    - had tried the 10.18.3304 (8.1 64-bit)

It works for XNA etc. BUT does not output via HDMI. Shows yellow triangle in Device Driver

    - then as recommended here tried the current 8.0 driver 9.17.2932

It removes the triangle and does output to HDMI, HOWEVER XNA is no longer supported. Video playback does not work properly.

    - also tried the latest Intel HD4000 driver 15.3329 which shows the same problems as Acers 10.18.3304

So the endresult is that a Acer P3-171 cannot be used with Windows 8.1 and HDMI output.

    Has anybody solved this?
