Aspire S3-391-6428 WLAN not working

Looking for quick answers as the person would like there laptop back ASAP, Thanks!

 

I am working on an Aspire S3-391-6428. The WLAN is not picking up a connection. I have tried installing the drivers again from acers website. I have reverted to a restore point. I restored to factory settings still nothing. so I belive that The WLAN card is bad.

also at all of the stages I have checked that the WLAN service is running and tried installing the network drivers from acers site.

 

Questions!

 

Does anyone know if there are diagnostic tools acer has to test the hardware? 

Is there a way to test for sure if it is the WLAN card, and not the socket to connect it to the motherboard?

If I was to take a random wireless card from another laptop would it work? ( I have tried this and got the same resault as I have been getting, still cant confirm if it is the socket or the card)

 

any other options to try would help as well thanks

    Does the computer ever see any wireless networks? If not, that may be a sign that the card is bad. Make sure the wireless card is enabled. You can usually do this by pressing the Fn key and the F3 key simultaneously. Also, try the steps located on http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/32747, to see if they help resolve the issue.

    This acer was in the shop a weekbefore this with the same issue. I had reinstalled the WLAN drivers and everything worked fine. She got the laptop back used it once and the connecton disappeared again. 

     

    I have reinstalled the correct drivers for over and over. When you factory rest a pc it will load the original drivers back in if the hardware is up in running. So because I have looked at this and reseated the network card several times now. I have determined it is a hardware issue. my question now is;

     

    How can I tell if it is the WLAN card it's self that is bad, or the motherboard that has a bad port where the WLAN card should be?

    Sorry for the troubles you are having. The only way I know of to test this would be to try installing a different WLAN card, to see if it is the card or the port (I know this is not an ideal testing scenario and probably not the answer you are looking for). If the system was recently serviced, I would advise to check with the service center that did the repair, to see if they can test the components.

    I am working at the service center I am the one that looked at it. Everyone here had told me the same thing the only way to test is to get a new WLAN card, (they are exspencive) and the client didn't want to speend the money just to get one shipped that may or may not work.

     

    So I was just hoping for the future to determine 100% that it would be fixed if we got the new WLAN card. Considering that the WLAN card was the only thing causing issues, the problem had to be from the WLAN card to the socket on the motherboard where it sits in.

     

    Thank you for your answer anyway I do appreciate it. She has unfortently decided to just get a WiFi USB instead as a chaeper solution.(understandable)
