A3 A10 keeps bootlooping after update error

Hello, I just received the notification to update my A3 A10 tablet then I downloaded and installed it but while the installation, there was an error and after that my tablet keeps bootlooping. I tried wipe data/factory reset in the recovery but it still bootlooping.

I don't know but maybe it's because my tablet was root.

If someone can help me it would be great, thank you in advance.

Yep, this is an issue on rooted device.

At the moment the only fix.....is to contact Acer support service and send the A3 A10 to restore the system image.

Sure, but rooting is known to violate the warranty. How much will they charge for the fix?

I think I can get it work but I need an update.zip from a backup. If someone can provide it, I will be thankfull

According to a developers forum i've been attending, that update.zip is not your problem. Besides update.zip is not really the name of the file, i've gathered about five different .zip files (before the update, after the update, a small file for the update, auxiliar libraries you name it it) although with different erros the results are ultimately the same.

According to my experience with other android mobiles (Sony, Samsung...) when I get into a bootloop, I just wipe data/factory reset and flash the ROM by the recovery and everything is ok. That's why, I think an update.zip would solve the problem but according to you, I'm wrong.

I just want to try everything possible on my on before sending it to Acer

"update.zip" is just a label for the recovery to accept the .zip to flash.

Your thoughts are correct but not for A3-A10 and other Acer tablets, since no full stock rom image is available to flash by SD update.zip and stock recovery.

This was already highlighted to Acer and some devices got the full rom to flash by recovery, let's hope it will arrive to A3-A10 too.

I've been attending the same developer's forum as gume, I think, and tried

all the updates without success. I think I've got the right update.zip, but

there being some differences with respect to the stock system, some of

the checks the update script makes fail and the update is aborted.

As the update files carry a signature, the update script cannot easily be

    modified.

So let me put together what I've learned (please correct me if I'm wrong):

The update images are called "OTA". These won't help us (not the original

    ones, at least).

What we need, and what I think IronFly is referring to, is called an "RUU",

with either JellyBean or KitKat in it.

I hope i don't break any forum rules but:

"update.zip", can be a full OS image that will wipe all your data and do a fresh install of OS, or a simple system update (often available only by OTA or sometimes as download on Acer website) to fix bugs or introduce new functions/applications, this will always be throught microSD card and recovery or hardware button combination.

"EUU" is a complete tool that will help you flash your device even if recovery is dead but fastboot is available, this tool works only on windows based PC and with some drivers to install before flashing.

It will wipe all your data and sometimes permit android version crossflash, so you can switch from JB and KK or viceversa (as example).

all the methods above, sometimes can have version/bootloader check, so they are not 100% proof and flashing a full system must be used only as last chance and if you really understand what are you doing.

    OK, thanks for the clarification.

I happen to have ADB installed on my PC (Linux) and found that fastboot

doesn't detect the tablet in its current state (bootloader screen).

Seems like at the end of the day I have to send in the device after all. :-(

    Hi Guys,

I've spoken to engineer's, they've put the A3-A10 update on hold and are investigating the cause of the issue. I don't have any updates just yet, but I wanted to let you know that we're working to identify the cause and I'll report back here once I know more.

    Thanks,
    Cory
