Hi all.

Had an aspire 571G for the past 2 months, great laptop I must say, but I think im having a problem with it.

When CPU is at full load on all 4 cores (3.4Ghz with turboboost), the cpu temps hit 80+, and turboboost is disabled back to 2.4Ghz.  Has anyone else had this issue?  Is there a way to manually control the CPU fan?  Ive tried cleaning the vents but this has made little difference.

THanks

    Hello!

I am sorry for my poor english!

I have the 571g model( i7, 2gb Nvidia gt640M) , it overheats like crazy, and the problem is due to the faulty design , i mean it is design to pull air from the bottom, but the bottom is always hot and therefore it always pulls hot air into the vent and that is the reason it overheats so fast( after 10 min. of Dead Space3, Crysis 3 - cpuid Hardware Monitor shows 102 degrees C (215 degrees F) for the Cpu and 95-97 degrees C for the Gpu) ! There are 2 solutions for this problem : 1- extend the warranty as much as possible and number 2 - build a cooler stand ( none of coolers that you can find in the market will do the job). I managed to build my own cooling stand ( using two 12 cm fans and a cardboard box, the fans are powerd at 12V , spin at a constant 1700 rpm throttling about 80 cubic cm of air keeping the bottom of the laptop cold!) After 4 hours of Dead Space 3 the Cpu showd 80 degrees C and Gpu 74-75 degrees C. As far as the goes the easiest way to know if its spinning is to blow some smoke from a cigarette into the vent if it comes out relly fast from the other vent where the radiator is it means its working if not take the laptop to warranty. Another issue is Bios updates, for day 2 day users ( movies, games, projects) they are useless and if not done in the correct way could damage the laptop very quick.

Regarding  Mr. David Martins problem , the easy way is to take the laptop to warranty !
