Aspire one "can not reconnect network adapter"

OK so I have an Acer Aspire One AOD260 net book that I have had for a few years.

The internet connection stopped working, WiFi is not my thing so I ran the trouble shooter and it comes back saying there is problems with the Network Adapter. I keep getting the message "Unable to reconnect to network adapter"

I get this message no matter where I am, so I'm thinking the problem is with the Netbook not a router or Modem.

MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Intel Atom CPU M550 @ 1.50GHz 2.0GB RAM
Intel Graphics media accelerator 3150

Device Manager lists:
Atheros AR8152 PCI-E Ethernet controller
Broadcom 802.11n Network adapter,
Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter

Under Network Connections it list 2 with a red X, Broadcom 802.11n does not but it says Unidentified network, no internet connection.

What have I tried?
I have tried plugging the Ethernet cable into the computer - no change, still get the adapter message
I tried plugging in a N900 Wireless Duel Band USB adapter - no change
I have disabled firewall and AV software - no change

I have uninstalled and reinstalled all the drivers - no change

Yes my router works on everything but this Acer

Like I said WiFi is not my thing so I really need some help of how to fix it. PLEASE Suzie

Atheros is your cable ethernet adapter. so you need to check if this adapter appears on Network connection.

When you go to device manager, are any of the network adapter listed showing with a yellow exclamation mark ?

You can try opening each of them and clicking uninstall, then reboot and let the system reinstall them and see if that makes a difference.

But if both the wired network (connected by ethernet cable) and Wifi do not work, you may have some broader issue.

Do make sure that your router is not set to block that machine (devices can be blocked by their MAC adress in a router).

Have you tried to connect it to another network (wired and wifi) at a friend or starbucks?

In control panel the 3 adapters listed do not have a yellow triangle through them. As I have listed the things I have done already, I have uninstalled each adapter and reinstalled each one with the latest drivers. I did this via another computer that has no problem connecting through my router. This Aspire one is a computer I gave to my mother and it stopped working at her house. So Im not thinking that it would be blocked from her router and mine as well. And yes I have tried connecting at work with no change.

I will uninstall the adapters and let them reinstall on start up, havent tried that way yet. It just seems so strange that both wifi and wired do not connect.

    Thanks for your input.

Have you checked if any proxy is enabled?

Start Internet Explorer go to Tools/Internet Options, click on Connections Tab and then Lan settings

must be ticked only "Automatically detect settings"

This is a good point, do you have No internet connection, or no network connection at all?

Basically, when conencted by ethernet cable or wifi, can you see the other computers on the networks, but just cannot access internet, or none of it.

When using wifi, does it say connected with Limited internet access, or it does not connect at all.

OK I really want to say THANK YOU for all the help, and I apoligize for the quality of these photos but i'm thinking this might help. Also I do have internet service, its woking, no problem on any device other than this Aspire one.

When I start the computer this is the message I get. Unfortunatly its only letting me put one photo at a time in.

so I go to change adaper settings and there is nothing there. I plug in my wireless netgear n900 wireless duel band into the USB port, and yes it works just fine on other computers. 20140731_110726.jpg

I have previously uninstalled all the adapters that were here and let the system try to reinstall them on start up. Guess what non of them installed. I have reinstalled them from a zip drive and same thing red x through them all. I have tried a full system restore from the Aser back up. No change. I have not hair left. I am about ready to take it to the Geek Squad cause I can't figure this out.

If when you desinstall the network adapters from the device manager, they do not reinstall automatically at startup, it means it does not see any availabe network adapters.  That points to a hardware problem.

So the geeksquad looks like a good option to confirm, but if the hardware is dead, it means part replacement..

Ok, let's try one last thing.

on Device manager, double click on devices with the yellow exclamation mark, click on Details tab, choose Hardware ID from the drop down menu, highlight the first string , copy and paste here the string.
