Hi,

I have a M3-581TG Ultrabook that has a 20 gig msata that is split into cache and hibernation partitions, along with a 500 gig sata drive.

Is it possible to upgrade the msata from the 20 gig to say a 128 or 256 gig drive or not.....I've seen posts around that says it's not possible, just thouht I would check here?

Regards

    hi...

As per specification this model supports upgrading primary hard disk :
SATA Type : 5400 RPM, 2.5 ", Slim with height of 7.0 mm, up to 320/500 GB
mSATA Type :  LF+HF, Multi-Level Cell (MLC) NAND flash, up to 128 GB/256 GB
The unit features a 20GB SSD cache that significantly speeds up sleep recovery and moderately speeds up startup speed.

Would I get any benefit by upgrading the msata to 128 gig??????

    Hi..

Yes, your "20GB SSD" is an mSATA cache, so you cannot swap it out to a standard SSD. It is not usable as a separate drive so you don't have the option to access it independently. You would have to swap out the HDD  to an SSD (7mm height) and migrate your OS to the SSD.
