Can't enter BIOS setup

I have a newly purchased TC 605.

The start up page shows press DEL to enter setup, but the desktop manual available in the Acer site shows press F2 to enter Bios setup.

However, I can't enter BIOS setup either by pressing DEL or F2.

Can someone advise me?

To enter BIOS on the TC 605 you need to press the delete key as soon as you see the Acer splash screen. The easiest way to enter setup is to press and hold the power key for 10 seconds (until the system powers completely off). Then, power the system on, and start pressing the delete key immediately. You can tap the key several times if you want. This should put you in the BIOS.

What operating system are you running?

    Windows 8 upgrade to 8.1.

    Tinkerer

    Thanks for pointing out this.

It should be noted that for Windows 8.1 it is a little different.

Under Change PC Settings, there is no General.

You have to click on Update and Recovery, then Recovery, then Advanced Startup, and Restart Now.

The above method works and applies when the computer boots.

What can I do if the computer does not boot?

"The easiest way to enter setup is to press and hold the power key for 10 seconds"

I haven't tried this method yet, do you mean to shut Windows by pressing and holding the power key?

In Vista and Windows 7, when Windows is shut down in this way, a page showing "Windiows did not shut down successfully...", will be displayed during the next start up.

Would please explain the procedure further?

Yes. Pressing and holding power for 10 seconds should shut the system completely off. You should be prompted for BIOS before the warning that windows did not shut down properly. After exiting the BIOS, you can select Start Windows Normally, to boot as usual. When the system is shut down again, you should not receive that message anymore.

If the computer will not boot to where it will show the Acer screen, your system probably requires repair.

    Thanks for the answers.

I noticed there is an update for the BIOS of TC 605, I wonder whether the update will fix the issue, I am hesitate to install the update, because I doubt if the local authorized service center in my area can rewrite the BIOS if it is messed.

If they can't, the TC 605 may write-off.
