Battery discharge after shutdown

Hi,

My apologies if this has already been discussed but I couldn't find a topic that pertains to my particular laptop. My laptop is an Acer Aspire R7-572-6637. I just got it brand new a couple of weeks ago. The first time I got it, I did a full 100% charge, installed all the system updates and then shut it down. I turned it on after 3 days, and the battery indicator read 62%. No one else has access to my laptop so I know that it wasn't used by anyone else. I thought this was an isolated incident so I made nothing of it at the time. However, here I am weeks later and the laptop never maintains its full charge, it's as if the battery continues to discharge even after I shut it down (yes I mean shutdown and not sleep). The only thing I can think of is a defective battery in which case I could try replacing it but wanted your expertise as to what else it could be. Thanks.

You can try playing with the power management options to make sure that it's shutting down and not hibernating or sleeping.

The next time you go to shut down, you could try pressing Fn-F3 first to enable airplane mode, to rule out a naughty wifi/bluetooth power drain.

One of the R7's USB ports is active, so if you've left USB devices plugged in then they may be responsible for the problem.

But it does sound like an abnormal issue, you're right!
