eRecovery hangs up on loading on Aspire 5251-1007

My older Acer will no longer load, it says windows is loading files (Windows 7), but never starts. I have tried the recovery discs, with no success. I started the laptop, hit alt and F10, and have the Acer eRecovery Management screen, it says Please wait a moment, and has the little circling icon below that, but a "moment" is now 2 hours and no further progress. I have tried this twice and can get nowhere with it. With my 4 recovery discs, recovery 1, 2 & 3 and the app/driver disc I also have another disc labelled repair disc windows 7 64 bit, however I am not sure if this acer is 64 or 32 bit, so not sure if I should be trying to recover with this disc or not.

This system ships originally with Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit. If the system is hanging, then your recovery media may be faulty or it may be a HDD problem. I would recommend formatting your HDD, then try the recovery media again. If it still fails, then you can either try another HDD or purchase new recovery media.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry for the delay in replying, my modem failed (as did the first replacement they gave me!) so I have not had any internet service for a few days.

I have the disc from one of my Acers labelled Windows 7 64 bit repair, I had not tried this before since I have 2 Acer laptops and I was unsure which one this disc belonged to, now that you tell me that it ships with 64 bit, I will try that disc.

Okay, I tried that, but after it says windows is loading, I just get a blank screen. I need to format the HDD first I guess but I am not sure how to do that.

Could you please tell me how to format my HDD?  I think that is one of those things that needs to be done carefully and I do not have the required knowledge at this point, neither does my computer guru. Woman LOL Thank you.

    Colette,

I can't tell you exactly how or what software to use, however I can point you in the right direction. If you have access to another computer, use your prefered search engine (Yahoo, Google, etc) and search Partition tool or Formatting utility. When you find one download and follow their instructions for formatting your HDD.
