    devinek,

If you are experiencing slow transfer speeds when creating the recovery media, I would suggest trying a new USB drive or formatting the current one in NTFS and make sure no other files are on the drive. If that does not solve the problem, please contact technical support in your region.

The drive works fine on another computer. It is formatted ntfs. It is very slow just copying files. I bought computer for $400 new at Walmart. I do not really want to spend a lot of money on it.

Are you just trying to create a factory restore USB drive? Or is it slow when transfering any type of file? also if the front is running slow try connecting it to the rear USB and see how it responds.

No. I was trying to create an image backup using windows 7. But i noticed just trying to copy the dektop folder to the drive was extremely slow. I have connected to both front and rear ports. I get the message that the usb port would be faster if connected to a 2.0 port. They are suppose to be 2.0 ports. I looked up the model on the acer website.

If you getting that message then the drivers don't seem to be installed correctly. Or the message could be referring to the USB drive not being 2.0?

If the system is not seeing your USB ports as 2.0, then there is either a driver conflict or hardware problem. I would recommend restoring the computer to factor defaults. As for your data you want to back up, if the files are slow to transfer then use the optical drive to copy the media to DVDs/CDs.

I did do a factory reset using the acer recovery management. It restored the system from the secret partition. Is that what you are talking about? Would it help to download the chipset?

Yes, if you have already performed the restore using the recovery partition, then try updating the chipset drivers. If you go into your Device Manager, then Universal Serial Bus Controllers, does it show "Enhanced" in any part of the description/name? Enhanced indicates that the system sees them as USB 2.0. If not then it is either a driver or hardware issue then.

Also when you connect your USB device, try the steps I found in a related issue; http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/136565-very-slow-usb-transfer-rate-win-7-64-bit.html. The post by "Punkster" seems like a possible solution if what I stated above does not apply to you.

Also, try checking your BIOS and make sure USB 2.0 is enabled if it has that option.
