Hi, I have 756-2641, has only been turned on 20 times. will not turn on (power button lights ) but only black screen. If I unplug and hold power button for 2 mins and let it sit for 10 more, it powers up every time and works great. Then when I shut down, windows closes but the power button stays lit. I have surfed everywhere to find the black screen issue is common, and they recommend a bios upgrade, When I attempt this ( at v2.01, have tried all down loadable versions too 2.21 ) i get an "invalid firmware image" error.... press any key to reboot !!      please help I need to get this working     I am flashing from windows with the exe file downloaded right from acer

can anyone tell me how to upgrade my bios from windows  ( all acer offers ) when my laptop wont shut down / reboot properly ....  anyone ???   and its the faulty bios thats causing it    wtg acer wtg     anybody want to stab at this ??? I have taken this down to the board, plugged in an external keyboard / mouse / monitor, replaced or removed every possible hardware scenario to get this to function.  The system is 2 years old but has 20 actual hours on it, came with win 8, 2.01 bios and has had no changes from factory or even updates.   when it starts it works flawlessly...everything                         So I took another hard drive, changed bios to legacy, loaded seven x32 ultimate.    exact same thing, wont shut down wont start unless I hold power button for 2 mins and let it sit for 10, wont update bios.    I can boot to safe mode, I can f2 into the bios, I can make changes to the bios ( but I noticed they dont always save )       HOW DOES ONE OVERCOME THIS ?  I hate to toss it in the trash , as it is basically new.   I called acer   ....   yup song and a dance ...all 3 directions I tried.

I found the fix...  toss it in the trash, and move on as it is not worth the time and money spent.
