Why do I need to download this driver? Doesn't Win7 just recognize the tablet. Sorry if this sounds silly this is my first tablet and I am confused about this. Thanks.

Strangely enough I didn't have to with my Win7 laptop but I know that some have had issues without out the download, the situation does not seem consistent, I too have the A1-810.

Let me try to help, you have not said what happens when you plug your tablet in to your computer via USB, when I connect my tablet, the A1-810, on the tablet I see *connected as a media device*, I have the option of connecting as a media device or camera, I choose media device, now, if you navigate to *my computer* on the PC you should see the  Acer A1-810, it may say *internal storage* and SD Card, you can click on these and open the tablet through *my computer*, now, if none of this is happening itis because your PC does not recognise the connected device, in your case the Acer A1-810, I have copied this for you from the Acer suppoert site, hope it helps,

To aid in transferring files to and from your Android tablet or to organize its files and folders, you can connect the tablet to your Windows based PC with the supplied USB cable.

To do this, you must first download and install to your PC, a USB driver found on our web site:

    1. In your Internet browser of choice, navigate to our Acer Support page.
    2. In the Select Your Product section, click the icon that represents your product.
    3. After you have selected the Icon that represents your product, click on Select Your Product By Model.
    4. A new window will pop-up. In the Select Line section, choose the line that represents your product link.
    5. In the Select Model section, choose the model that represents your product.
    6. Click the Confirm button to verify the correct model choice.
    7. On the next page, click on the Drivers tab.
    8. Locate and click on the USB Driver file to download it.

    9. Click Save and select where you want to download the file.
    10. Once downloaded, you will unpack the .ZIP file. Right click on the file you downloaded and click on Extract All.
      image
    11. Choose the destination for where you want the files extracted. You can use the same location as where you downloaded the .ZIP file.

    12. Locate the Setup application and double click on it to begin the installation.
      image
    13. Choose the language in which you wish to install the application.
      image
    14. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

After the installation of the USB driver is complete, turn on and connect the tablet to your PC with the supplied USB cable. Once connected, the PC will recognize the tablet and assign it a drive letter so you can view its contents.

I didn't tell you how it appears because I haven't tried it. I was concerned that if I did it might cause a problem, something I didn't Smiley Happyneed.

From your suggestion I willl try and see if it is recognized. Thanks roadwarrior!

Hope it goes smoothly when you make the connection, as to your question yes, I do like my A1-810 but, my next tablet will be  a Samsung Galaxy Tab for sure and I'm pretty certain that, after years of buying Acer laptops ( I have three at the moment ) the next laptop I buy will be Lenovo. Of late Acer are taking their customers too much for granted and their after sales care is not what it once was.

I understand about another tablet. I hoping Ssamsung will release a new Note 8 with 32GB's. That is what I had my eye on for a while. Just wish they say something!

Hi, there are WiFi boosters that you can download from the Play Store but, to be honest I've tried a couple with no luck. At home you can change the position of your router, the higher it is the better, also if you can make it central in the home so it covers more area, it's also possible to change the channel that the router broadcasts the wireless signal on. Unfortunately, when you are out and using public WiFi there is not much you can do to boost reception.

Thanks for tha answer roadwarrior. I am sorry it is so late. Lots of interruptions so took longer than I thought.

When I connected my A1, it did recognize it immediately. So I don't think I will download the driver. I did notice there is no "Eject"so  I just unconnected. Also no way to charge through my computer either. Not saying I want to to that but that is the only thing I noticed it not doing.

I do hope you get this message I noticed you said you were leaving the board. We just meet but wanted to Thank You again for your help and friendliness!Smiley Happy
