New screen bricked my aspire v5-552

Hi guys, I have kind of given up hope of getting my laptop working but im more intrigued as to what caused the problem. basically I was stupid and clumsy and I drooped my laptop. Everything was fine except the smashed screen so on a v5-552 its not rocket science to remove the screen so i did and for a month just connected it to my tv. I ordered a new screen from eBay but the seller decided to send me the wrong screen although a very similar Acer screen that fitted perfectly. oblivious to this at the time i plugged it in put the battery back and the power cord back in etc and the led to say it was plugged in came on and that but that was it. My laptop is now lifeless and i have tried alll the general holding the power button with no battery etc etc. 5 mins after this the seller emailed me to say he has sent me the wrong screen, typical! after explaining what happend he reckons it was something to do with the voltage of having the wrong screen and it basically blew up components on the mother board. Im not sure he knows what he is talking about but im hoping one of you experts can help me. Is it even worth repairing and do you think I should ask the eBay seller to pay for repairs as he sent me the wrong screen. Many thanks!

    Hi natesmith,

Have you tried to put the old LCD screen back to see if your laptop is back to normal?
